Avant de faire une étude comparative plus approfondie des standards des Lhassa Apsos de ces 70 dernières années, on peut déjà observer trois points principaux :

1° - La taille nettement précisée et pratiquement constante dans tous les standards n’ a pas été respectée par les juges dont c’est la fonction.

2° Alors que les américains n’ont pas changé le Standard d’origine de 1935 jusqu’en 1978, (dans lequel ils ont supprimé la mesure du nez et la couleur préférentielle) cependant ce sont eux qui ont produit les types de chien les plus différents du type d’origine.

3° - Le Kennel Club anglais dans son dernier standard de novembre 2003 ( F.C.I. 2 avril 2004) fait un retour en arrière et revient à la description du corps du standard 1972 en le précisant.
